A special weather statement for the North Bay area continues with snow and freezing rain possible today.

Environment Canada says a few centimetres of snow and ice pellets are expected before possibly changing to freezing rain this evening.

Officials say the freezing rain may last for a few hours before changing back to snow tonight.

The forecast is calling for 2-4 cm of snow today with another 5-10 cm possible tonight.

It’s all thanks to a low pressure system.

Overall, Environment Canada says a “significant precipitation event” is expected across the Northeast Region.

School transportation officials advise all school buses are cancelled across the district today (Tuesday, February 7th).

Schools remain open.
