The Municipal Heritage Committee continues to plan for 2017.

Chair Peter Handley says they are still in the process of evaluating what buildings will be designated as municipal heritage buildings.

He says they will be marking the Berry Building natural gas explosion from the mid ’70’s in which 8 people died.

As well, they hope to put a focus on heritage at city hall.

Handley says they hope to have a rotating series of heritage displays in the main lobby.

Meantime, he believes some kind of permanent monument should be built marking the Dionne Quintuplets story and what it means to this part of Northern Ontario.
