The province’s licence-free fishing weekend goes Saturday and Sunday.

Canadian residents can fish Ontario waters without the fishing-related outdoors card. It’s all about introducing people to fishing.

Meantime, there’s a fishing derby called Ice Fishing For The Cure being held from 8am to 1pm on Sunday at the North Bay waterfront.

50 per cent of the proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society while the other half goes to the angler with the longest fish. Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for children under 10.
