The countdown is on for the 2018 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in North Bay next March.

Canada will be the defending champion at the local event.

This after Ottawa’s Rachel Homan rink (pictured) won the 2017 title in Beijing on the weekend.

Co-chair Rick Miller says full event passes are now on sale for the 2018 championship.

They’re available through curling.ca or at the Battalion offices at Memorial Gardens.

Miller says there’s no limit on the number of full event passes that’ll be sold before the individual weekend and specific draw packages can be purchased, which won’t go on sale until November.

Meantime, volunteers are needed for the event.

Miller says there are 12 to14 committees and a description is available on the Curling Canada web site to see which one you’re interested in.

They need volunteers on both the Curllng Canada side and the local committee side.

He also says they’re meeting with local businesses this week and the reception has been very good.
