10 CT33 Thunderbirds competed at an invitational development meet in Petawawa last weekend, in remembrance of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

All 10 local swimmers had top 3 finishes

Isabella Trottier, Drew Sinclair, Jesse Hammond and Riley Periard each had four first place finishes.

Other swimmers with first place finishes were Zackary Boucher, Abigail Betsill, Annika Lainevool, Emilia Lainevool and Kiara Palavicino.

Melody Farrell finished second in three of her events.

Two first place finishes were awarded to the women’s team in the 200 metre relay event.

 

The North Bay Atom AA Trappers are in Vaughan for the OHF championship.

Their first game is tomorrow (Friday) at 10 am against Milton.

They also play North Toronto at 2:30 pm.

Saturday’s schedule has North Bay playing London (10 am) and Vaughan (4 pm).

Four of the five teams advance to the semi’s on Sunday morning with the final that afternoon.

Last weekend the Midget and Bantam AAA Trappers both won provincial bronze.

 

56 weightlifters from schools across the province will be at the Canadore Commerce Court gym on Saturday.

They’re competing in the 10th annual Ontario Weightlifting Association’s Scholastic Challenge.

Medals are up for grabs in eight male and seven women’s divisions, there are best lifter and best novice trophies and the top College/University and High School team banners.

Spectators are welcome.

There’s no cost for admission.
