A 19 year old North Bay man has been charged with attempted murder.

Police say last Thursday, a man was at a friend’s house and pulled out a knife and began to stab the other man.

A neighbour heard the commotion and helped the disarm the man, who then fled the scene.

Police say the accused was located soon after.

Meantime, North Bay Police say someone threw a rock at a Main Street business early yesterday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Near North Crimestoppers.

City police are also looking into several reports of thefts from vehicles.

They occurred on the weekend as items were grabbed from unlocked vehicles on Lancelot Avenue, Main Street East and Beth Street.

The items include sunglasses, mini IPads and a gym bag.

And police say a North Bay woman fell victim to a Reader’s Digest scam.

The woman in her 80’s was contacted over the phone.

She was told she was getting a large cash prize from Reader’s Digest but to claim the prize she had to pay a tax and she was asked to transfer funds to a Western Union account which she did.

Police say to avoid scams ask yourself did I enter the contest, if you did know that you don’t have to pay a tax to collect and never send money or personal information to someone you don’t know or trust.
