The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority says with rain in the forecast  for Thursday a water safety water condition statement has been issued for Lake Nipissing.

Authority duty officer Katelyn Lynch says the lake’s level has been decreasing over the last few days but is still above the maximum operating level.

She says we could receive 10-15 mm of rain and thunderstorms too but flooding is not expected.

Lynch says thunderstorms could bring more rain.

She says the strong winds in the forecast could increase the wave impact on the shoreline in North Bay and Callander.

The statement is in effect until next Wednesday at noon.
