The North Bay and District Labour Council is hosting a session tonight involving planning for an annual community-based Pride event.

Labour Council President Henri Giroux says it made sense for them to get involved.

“Labour is involved with the history of promoting human rights so we wanted to have something for the LGBTQ (community) in the area,” he says.

Giroux says they’re hosting the event, but anyone interested is invited to join the conversation.

“We want it to be a community thing, but we just want to help out as Labour, try to get people there to see what we can do, to help out,” he says.

The meeting goes at 5:30 pm at Nipissing University (Room A244).
