Near North Board Trustees will get the chance to hear from the public on what should happen with the six schools.

A public meeting is being held tonight (Monday) at 6:30 pm at West Ferris Secondary.

The Accommodations Review Committee recommends keeping West Ferris and Widdifield Secondary Schools open, while closing Chippewa.

Staff recommend consultation and analysis to decide which school in the north end of the city, Widdifield or Chippewa, would stay open.

Under the plan E.T. Carmichael, E.W. Norman and W.J. Fricker would be consolidated into a new build on the Fricker site.

The Near North Board votes on the issue June 27th.

Meantime, there will be two rallies today in opposition to a super school for North Bay.

One took place this morning and another is happening before tonight’s public meeting.

Stop The Super School is a group that believes North Bay should have a high school in each end of the city.
