North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce members are being asked for input.

Chamber vice president Patti Carr says a provincial government committee will be in the city next month and they want to hear public reaction to the proposed increase to the minimum wage.

She says they encourage members to fill out a short survey on their web site and they’ll present the results to the committee.

Carr says not every business will be impacted by a higher minimum wage, but many will.

She says owner-operator businesses don’t have employees but many others do and they want to know what impact a higher minimum wage will have on those businesses.

Carr says increasing the minimum wage will have an effect on the business community with higher employer costs.

Minimum wage is rising to $14 an hour on January 1st of next year and another dollar to $15 on the first day of 2019.

It’s currently $11.40 an hour.
