Staff at 22 Wing are putting the final touches on in preparation for Friday’s Relay for Life event at the CFB.

You can park at the Voyageur Airways lot and there  will be shuttles leaving every few minutes to the track area.

The opening ceremonies will start at 6.

The luminary ceremony starts at 10:45 and the closing ceremony will follow soon after.

Captain Kelly Dermody  is the base chair of the Relay for Life committee.

He says this is their 17th year in hosting.

Captain Dermody  says volunteers have put in 500 hours of work and there’s $20,000 of in kind donations provided.

Captain Dermody says they spend months planning for the camp they put in.

He says it takes two full days to get everything done and that includes ensuring all the electrical connections are in place.

Captain Dermody says the military is very proud to be involved in the event.

He says they’re part of the North Bay community and like them the military community has been impacted by cancer as well.
