We’ve told you the last couple of days about public opinion on the provincial governments fair workplaces, better jobs act.

Today we hear from the provincial government committee chair.

Peter Milczyn is also the parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Labour.

He says they’ve been working on Bill 148 for a couple of years now so he’s not hearing a lot of new surprising information at this point.

Milczyn says they’re hearing about possible tweaks to the bill at this point as some feel the bill goes too far and others say it doesn’t go far enough.

He says the minimum wage increase has been a hot topic with lots of support but some small business owners say the increase is too fast, too soon.

But he says that always happens when an increase to the minimum wage is being proposed.

Milczyn says right now they’re in the consulting stage with stops still to go Kingston,Windsor, London, Niagara, Hamilton and Toronto.

He says they’ll release possible changes to the bill in August and they’ll be voted on in September.
