The local YBC youth bowling league is holding a couple of registrations sessions for the upcoming season.

They’re taking place at Partners Bowling on Wednesday, August 30th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, September 9th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Children 10 and under who arrive on the Saturday before 9 am to register can start bowling that day.

Children 11 to 19 can start bowling that day if they arrive before 11 am to register.

Officials say bowling in a youth league offers the member many benefits.

They say youngsters get active with regular, moderate exercise and improve their coordination, balance and motor skills.

There’s also the team dynamics of bowling, that they say helps to improve social skills through positive interaction with peers.

Concepts and importance of sportsmanship and fair play are reinforced by coaches and volunteers.

Bowlers also learn about setting personal goals for themselves and receive achievement awards throughout the season in recognition of personal and team accomplishments.
