For the second time this week gas prices have jumped in North Bay. In fact, they’re rising across Canada because of the effects of Hurricane Harvey.

A litre of regular is now just under $1.24 at most fueling pumps locally.

That’s up about 9 cents.

However, a couple gas stations, at last check Friday morning, are listed just under $1.19.

Last year at this time gas prices in North Bay were just under 99 cents a litre, according to the Energy Ministry website.

Harvey has knocked out significant oil drilling and refining capacity in Texas and the Gulf of Mexico, and on Wednesday, the largest U.S. oil refinery shut down.

Authorities in Texas have raised the death toll from the storm to 39, almost a week after Harvey slammed into the state’s Gulf Coast.

More than 7,000 homes have been destroyed.

Flood waters are expected to be gone from most of Houston by late tonight or early tomorrow.
