It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Think Pink Week in North Bay.

That proclamation from Mayor Al McDonald today (Tuesday) at the CIBC on Main West.

Officials are gearing up for the 13th annual CIBC Run For The Cure at the North Bay Waterfront on Sunday October 1st.

Co-run Director Melanie Gainforth says there’s still time for people to get involved.

“Registration is open at cibcrunforthecure.com where you choose North Bay as your location and you can either choose to register as a participant or a team or make a donation to someone you know who is running,” she says.

Over 340 people took part in last year’s run, which raised over $50,000.

There are fundraising and awareness events taking place in CIBC branches across Canada.

Of note, CIBC will be matching every donation made until 11:59 pm tomorrow (Wednesday September 13th) up to $500,000.

Another unique event is also taking place.

Hosp Nation North Bay’s AJ Jakeman says several local restaurants have been taking part in a Pink A Drink fundraiser since August 15th.

“Some of the restaurants have come up with a concoction that has to be pink, something a little different that wouldn’t be on their menu and every time a customer comes in to purchase one their donating 25 cents to the CIBC Run for the Cure,” he says.

The restaurants include:
Arugula
The Boat
Casey’s
Crown and Beaver Pub
Cultura
East Side Marios
The Fox and Fiddle
The Raven & Republic
The Station

The fundraiser culminates this Friday night with a “Pink The Boat” event at The Boat North Bay.
