It’s called NU25: Doors Open and the doors will be open to Nipissing University this Saturday.
A series of events, everything from guided hikes to crafts, documentary screenings, a barbecue and more, are taking place from 10am to 2pm.
It’s all a part of Nipissing celebrating it’s 25th anniversary as an independent university.
Here are the full details on the events taking place (submitted):

Guided Hikes
Enjoy and learn about some of the 20 km of forested trails located on campus and used as natural laboratories and classrooms as well as for hiking, running, skiing and snowshoeing. Hikes are guided by expert professors and students from Nipissing’s Biology and Geography departments and will provide information about the history, flora and fauna and how the trails are utilized as part of the academic curriculum. A true workout for the mind as well as the body, it’s also a great chance to get some fresh air and exercise.

Documentary movie screening: The Warriors
The remarkable Nipissing Warriors hockey team played from 1965 – 1975. Few could have imagined their success or popularity when community members began pushing for an all-Anishinaabe team to play in the all-white, predominantly Francophone, Industrial League in Sturgeon Falls in the 1960s.

The Warriors documentary will be shown throughout the day in the Nipissing Theatre (F213). At 11:30 a.m. Nipissing is proud to host a question and answer session featuring Dr. Katrina Srigley and Glenna Beaucage, the dynamic duo who produced the movie, as well as community elders.

Kidz Zone
Bring the future Lakers out to experience the fun and excitement of Nipissing’s Kidz Zone. Your child can participate in arts and crafts and play and learn thanks to some great educational games run by Schulich School of Education students. There will also be some treats courtesy the Nipissing University Student Union.

Fine Arts Exhibit at Monastery
Nipissing’s amazing Fine Arts department is opening the monastery doors for an exhibit of paintings and drawing by students and faculty. Check out site-specific art installations, paintings from graduates and a screen-printing demo. If you have never visited the Monastery this will be a great time to visit and experience the magic of art.

Library
The award-winning and beautiful Harris Learning Library is providing tours, giving the opportunity to meet with the Librarians and learn about the equipment utilized at the library. This is not a shushing library, so you won’t get in trouble for talking, asking questions, or even enjoying yourself.

Residence
Nipissing’s Residences are consistently ranked at the top in student surveys and the student leaders in Residence would like to welcome everyone to see the facilities and experience what student life is really like at Nipissing. There will be building tours available or you can hang out in the lobby and learn more about programming in residence from Nipissing’s professional staff.

Robert Surtees Athletic Centre
The Lakers varsity teams welcome everyone to join them as they showcase their training space and hallowed competition facilities. You may even get to see some Lakers varsity athletes hitting some high-intensity training in the gym or the weight room preparing for the upcoming season.

Centre for Physical and Health Education
Curious about biomechanics, or what Nipissing’s environmental chamber can do? Maybe you want to (or simply should) analyze your golf swing. The Centre for Physical and Health Education is the place for you. Nipissing’s Bachelor of Physical and Health Education faculty and staff will be giving tours and demonstrations of their state-of-the-art research space and highlight the research work happening right in North Bay’s back yard that has the potential to positively impact all Canadians.
Campus tours

Curious about how Nipissing has grown, changed and evolved over the past 25 years? Tours start from the main entrance between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will also be an opportunity to peruse an exhibit of faculty and staff works and memorabilia from the past 25 years.
