A 6-5 loss for the North Bay Battalion in their final pre-season game yesterday (Sunday) against visiting Owen Sound.

Luke Burghardt scored twice for North Bay with Payton Vescio, Adam Thilander and Daniel Walker also finding the back of the net.

The Troops finished the exhibition schedule with a 3-2-1 record.

North Bay begins the regular season at home to Barrie on Friday.

 

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos suffered their first loss of the season, 4-2 in Blind River last night.

It was the third game in three days for Powassan who beat the Soo Eagles and Soo Thunderbirds by scores of 5-3 on Friday and Saturday.

The Voodoos are now 4-1 on the season.

 

In OUA soccer, the Nipissing Lakers women’s team split their weekend games.

They lost 3-1 to Queens on Saturday, then won 4-0 over RMC yesterday.

On the men’s side, the Lakers lost 3-nothing to Queens then tied RMC 1-1.

 

An event aimed at identifying issues and solutions to ensure football continues to thrive and grow locally is taking place tonight.

A North Bay Football Forum is being held at the Grande Event Centre at 6:30 pm.

Interested organizations, teams, coaches, officials, parents and players are invited.

The event is being moderated by Dave Saad.

Sport North Bay and Nipissing are presenting the event with Registered Dietitian Jennifer Sygo.

She’s the team dietitian for the Toronto Maple Leafs and nutrition consultant to the Toronto Raptors.
