Proceeds from this years North Bay Firefighters calendar will go to Hands The Family Help Network to support autism services.

The calendars, which will cost $20 each, will be available on October 13th at several locations.

That includes Fire Station One, Hands The Family Help Network and Parker’s Your Independent Grocer.

Executive Director of Hands Jeffrey Hawkins says the funds will support technological items for the kids the staff see.

“In terms of ability to speak, in terms of ability to engage and believe it or not, as much as we hear about social media, it’s a way to enhance social skills and social relationships, which is core to the work of autism,”
he says.

Firefighter Jim Daly says they wanted to do something for kids.

“4 years ago we raised $36,600. We wanted to beat the goal. So our goal to start is $40,000. We have printed 2,500 calendars with the goal of selling them all,” he says.

The calendars will be unveiled at an October 12th launch party at the Voyager Inn.
