The Minister of Health and Long Term Care Dr. Eric Hoskins says his ministry is exploring all options so long term residents in the Trout Creek area can stay close to home.

The Lady Isabelle Nursing Home is still open.

It is slated for closure by the province.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says it will stay open until all current residents can find a place to go.

“It could take several more months before it’s closed. There will be a lag between when it’s closed and when a new building is built. There’s no question there’ll be a long gap,” he says.

Fedeli says officials are now actively looking for a partner that can build a 66 unit facility in Trout Creek.

“I feel quite confident there’s an operator somewhere in Ontario who will look forward to expanding into Trout Creek. That’s really what I think will happen,” he adds.
