The North Bay Battalion are back in action tonight (Thursday).

They travel to Barrie to play the Colts.

Coach Stan Butler says he expects a tough game.

“They’re much improved. If you look at our division right now both Barrie and Niagara are 3-1 so they’re both off to a pretty good start. So we’ve got to be ready for them,” he says.

The game marks the first of the season for Battalion forward Brett McKenzie who was recently cut by Vancouver’s AHL team.

Butler says he loves the city.

“He loves his billets and loves playing in North Bay. Although he’s disappointed to still be playing in the OHL in his 5th year at least he’s got a good place to play.”

The Troops are 3-0-1.

You can hear tonight’s game on Country 600 CKAT starting at 7:25 pm.

In the NOJHL the Powassan Voodoos beat French River 10-6 last night in Noelville.

Tomas Yachmanev had a hat trick for the Voodoos.

Cade Herd and Harrison Israels added two goals each with singles from Shane Beaulieu, Brett Hahkala, and Dayton Murray.

Christian Cicigoi made 31 saves in the win.

Powassan is back in action Saturday at home to Blind River.
