Provincial funding is flowing to create over 2,000 additional patient beds and spaces to improve patient access across Ontario, including locally.

An additional 8 beds are being created at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

President and CEO Paul Heinrich says the relief funding will alleviate the immediate patient flow pressures at the Health Centre by allowing them to hire staff and develop space to meet the higher patient need.

Eight are also being created in Timmins and in the Soo, while Sudbury receives 16.

The Northeast LHIN also has another 31 beds/spaces that will be allocated based on need.
