Former Battalion Captain Mike Amadio scored his first NHL goal last night (Thursday) in the Los Angelas Kings 5-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Amadio scored a record 50 goals for North Bay in his final season with the Battalion in 2015/16.

The North Bay Battalion, meantime, are hoping to find some offense on their three game weekend road trip which starts tonight in Flint.

They scored just three goals last weekend in losses to Owen Sound and Kitchener, with all three off the stick of forward Justin Brazeau.

Coach Stan Butler says they’re going to need offense from other players too.

“We need to get some scoring from other guys. Obviously, McKenzie, McMaster, Burghardt are key guys on our team. I don’t think its any secret to anybody that those three guys need to score for us to be successful,” he says.

Butler says the team defense and goaltending has been pretty solid of late, but they need scoring.

“To have a chance to win in this league you have to defend and we have to defend well and score a little bit more than we are,” he adds.

Once again this weekend the Troops will be without recently acquired netminder Christian Propp, who is out with a knee injury.

The Battalion are in Saginaw tomorrow and the Soo on Sunday afternoon.

Broadcast time tonight from Flint, is 6:55 pm on Country 600 CKAT.

Meantime, Troops forward Brandon Coe is at the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge in British Columbia, playing for Team Canada Red.

They lost 8-1 to the United States in an exhibition game last night.
