Ottawa is investing in culture in the North Bay area.

MP Anthony Rota announced a total of $446,000 for the Capitol Centre today (Thursday).

“It’s basically a catalyst and an engine that keeps our arts up and running,” he says.

Rota says there are two funding allotments.

“One is taking care of the structure and making sure that it’s up to par, and buying the right equipment to make sure everything is done well. The other one helps with the programming,” he says.

Specifically $296,000 is earmarked for infrastructure improvements and sound system upgrades.

$150,000 will support programming for three season, starting in 2018/19.
