With only days until the Santa Fund baskets will be packed, officials with the 70th annual event are hoping the community can help them reach their fundraising goal.

“The goal of $140,000 is before us, and right now we’re just barely over the $70,000 mark so we need the support of the community,” says Co-Chair Lachlan McLachlan.

He also says there a couple of ways to make a donation.

“We need everyone who hasn’t made their donation to come out to the North Bay Nugget (on Worthington),” McLachlan says.  “If they’d rather make it online they can do that at www.santafund.ca and make their donation, and receive their tax receipt immediately.”

The packing of the baskets, including a holiday meal and gifts, takes place on Friday at the Fort Chippewa Barracks.

Delivery happens on Saturday.

Upwards of 700 families are receiving Santa Fund baskets this year.
