The Families First New Years Eve celebration is back for a 23rd year in North Bay.

Committee member Wendy Prieur says the event goes Sunday from 5-9 pm at Thomson Park, Memorial Gardens and the North Bay YMCA.

“We have a button making station, skating, swimming at the YMCA, we have our inflatable bouncy land again, face painting and new to our event this year is an interactive reptile show,” she says.

There’s also a colouring contest.

Prieur says Families First is for everyone.

“You don’t need alcohol or drugs for a celebration. And also we see adults celebrate New Years. But, one of the great things about our event is there’s something for everyone and children are welcome.”

She promises there will be quite the fireworks show and several goodies highlighting Canada 150 celebrations will be handed out.

There’s no admission but officials will be accepting non-perishable donations for the North Bay Food Bank.
