It was a busy week last week for OPP officers in the North Bay, Powassan and Mattawa detachments as they investigated 39 collisions.

Most of them, 35, resulted in property damage but there was one fatal collision and three that involved minor injuries.

The cause of some of the collisions are still under investigation, but OPP are reminding motorists to drive safe.

Police say be aware of weather, delay your trip if the weather is bad, don’t rush, be mindful of fatigue and always wear your seatbelt.

OPP say causes of collisions throughout the year include driver error, maintenance issues and experience, but the big four of distracted driving, aggressive driving, impaired driving and lack of seat belt use are also prevalent.

Overall, police say stay alert, slow down and stay in control.
