Fresh from trading away defenceman Cam Dineen, the North Bay Battalion beat the visiting London Knights 6-3 yesterday afternoon (Sunday) at Memorial Gardens.

Justin Brazeau (pictured) had five points in the win, while winger Luke Burghardt chipped in four points.

Head Coach Stan Butler says newly acquired centre Matthew Struthers, who has four points in three games, has been a great addition to the Battalion as well.

“He was just a player that behind some guys in the line-up where he was (Owen Sound), now he’s getting opportunities that he didn’t get there.  As a result of that, he’s done well,” Butler says.

Defenceman Braden Henderson, acquired in the Dineen trade with Sarnia, made his Troops debut yesterday.

Overall, Butler says his team has played well, despite all of the changes brought on by recent trades.

“We had five out of six points this weekend,” he said.  “With a lot of the stuff that’s going on, that really tells you the type of character we have on our team.”

Next up, North Bay is home to Owen Sound on Thursday.

The game marks the return of three former Troops to North Bay.

Centre Brett McKenzie was traded to the Attack last week, defencman Brady Lyle was dealt to Owen Sound in October while that same month Daniil Verity was traded to Saginaw.

The Spirit then traded him to Owen Sound in December.
