Winter has returned to the North Bay area… rather quickly.

Environment Canada says flash freeze warning for the North Bay area has now ended.

A fast-moving cold front saw the mercury plunge to minus 15 at 9 am.

That’s a 21 degree difference from 4 am.

Yesterday the temperature hit 7.7 degrees, which is just over a degree shy of the 1975 record.

The forecast is calling for snow to taper to scattered flurries this afternoon as the temperature continues to fall.

Meantime, all school buses have been CANCELLED right across the district today, because of the weather.

Schools remain open.

Laurentian Ski Hill plans on opening at noon today, to allow for grooming of the hill after all the rain.
