Twenty-seven CT33 Thunderbird Swim Team members recently competed at the Dave Kensit Memorial Championship in the Soo.

Seventeen teams took part in the regional championship short course swim meet.

The CT-33 Thunderbirds women’s team placed third overall with ten year old Madilyn Reaume finishing first in three events and third in three more.

Both Jesse Hammond, 17, and Evan Kilroy, 16, placed in the top three in three events and also broke two club records.

Ten other Thunderbirds had top three finishes including Abigail Betsill, Trael Daly Stevens, Samuel Denomme (pictured), Emilia Lainevool, Ayden Michaud, Cole Paralovos, Peyton Paralovos, Ryleigh Paralovos, Gavin Wall, and Jenna Wall.

Thunderbird swimmers achieving top eight placements were Albert Bouley, Leah Chirico, Timothy Corbeil, Sheldon Kilroy, Jillian O’Donnell, Noah Papatheodorou, Jaiden Paralovos, Riley Periard and Olivia Trottier.

Personal best times were recorded for CT33 swimmers at the event with special mention to Sydney Doidge, Grace Hong, Rachelle Ouellette, Katie Sefton and Madeline Tanner.

The men’s 15 and over relay team, consisting of Jesse Hammond, Evan Kilroy, Cole Paralovos and Trael Daly Stevens, broke a nine year old club record in the 200m Free event as well as the club record in the 200m Medley event.

These performances captured second place finishes.

CT33 Thunderbirds continue to train.

Riley Periard qualified to compete at the Provincial Festivals in Ottawa February 17th and 18th.

Jenna Wall, Trael Daly Stevens and Evan Kilroy are preparing to compete at the 2018 Ontario Spring Provincial Championships March 1st to 4th.

Ayden Michaud, Jenna Wall, Michael Denomme, Jesse Hammond, Evan Kilroy and Cole Paralovos will be competing at the 2018 Ontario Spring AA Championships March 8th to 11th.

Trael Daly Stevens has also qualified to compete at the 2018 Speedo Eastern Canadian Championships to be held April 12th to 15th.

North Bay coaches Pierre Simard, Penny Lecour, Hillar Lainevool and Jennifer Piper said they were pleased with the results from the meet and the success and growth of all swimmers.
