The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board has received $3.3 million in provincial funding to provide over 120 new child care spaces at two schools.

73 of the new spaces are at St. Francis Elementary School and another 49 are at Mother St. Bride Elementary School.

The spaces are for children up to 4 years old.

District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board chair Mark King says this childcare expansion will improve access to child care in the district.

Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board chair Barbara McCool says child care plays an integral role in preparing children and parents for the transition to school.
