North Bay Police report the province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in after the death of a man locally this morning (Thursday).

City police say they were called to a domestic disturbance at a local residence just after 5 am.

Officers attempted to arrest a man, with a taser used.

Police say an ambulance was requested as the man was in medical distress.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The SIU says four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to investigate the circumstances around the death of the 43-year-old North Bay man.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
