Canadore’s Next Top Chef competition goes today (Thursday) with eight teams of high school students taking part.

They’re coming from Almaguin Highlands, Kemptville, North Bay and Parry Sound.

A panel of judges will grade their three course meal.

It will include minestrone soup, Supreme of Chicken Chasseur with Chateau Potatoes, glazed carrots and steamed broccoli, and an individual fruit tart with raspberry coulis.

“This year’s menu is definitely ambitious,” said Canadore chef and school of culinary arts professor Derek Lawday.  “But as always, I know that we will see surprising variations and impressive results from these aspiring chefs.”

First prize winners will receive their first semester tuition to Canadore College’s two-year culinary management diploma program.
