It’s called ‘Employment First’ and the project is all about aligning people with intellectual disabilities, service providers, educators, employers and the community.
Community Living North Bay’s Manager of Employment Supports J.C. Doyle says they’re one of six agencies involved in the program.
He says the initiative also includes the internationally recognized “Job Path Program”.
That’s a six week pre-employment training curriculum designed for people with disabilities.
The project also looks to bring a targeted Summer Jobs Program to each agency too.
Doyle says it’s their goal to build awareness, continue to bridge relationships, and create opportunities for everyone based on their abilities.
A new video has been created to raise awareness on ‘Employment First”, including local successes.
