The next stage of the redevelopment project at Cassellholme is a political step.

Councillor Chris Mayne is on the Cassellholme board and he says all member municipalities must sign off on the project to make it happen.

“What we’re trying to do is to have all the 9 member municipalities and this includes 4 municipalities that are looking to leave reconfirm their support for the direction of the redevelopment of Cassellholme,”  he says.

Mayne says agreement by the municipalities would mean that they agree with Cassellholme’s new ability to borrow money to pay for the project, the proposed cost of $65 million and the exact amount each municipality would have to pay with North Bay’s share around $1 million a year for 25 years.

Mayne says the province won’t move ahead unless all municipalities agree.
