Earlier this week the North Bay and area Community Foundation announced its grant recipients for this year.

Overall, 11 different organizations are receiving a total of $53,000.

The money comes from The Smart and Caring Communities Fund, The Jack Burrows Fund and the Thomson Family Fund.

The organizations benefiting include The Warriors of Hope, Special Olympics, PADDLE and The Near North Palliative Care Network.

Other organizations receiving funds include Packsac Smiles, P.L.A.Y.S.,North Bay North Stars, YMCA, Hope Awaits, The North Bay Granite Curling Club and Rotary’s Camp Tillicum.

Meantime, the organizations annual dinner and auction is on May 4th at the grande Event Centre. Tickets are $100 each.

Packsac Smiles – $3,000

20 backpacks full of essentials for local children in need.

PLAYS (Parents Lending Autistic Youth Support)- $1,800

Emergency first aid, including CPR for 20 staff and volunteers.

Warriors of Hope – $3,547

North Bay North Stars – $8,000

Cover the cost of their ice rentals for the year.

YMCA – $5,000

Equipment upgrades for their FREE Teen Friday.

PADDLE – $10,000

Renovations to make their space accessible for participants.

Near North Palliative Care Network – $7,000
Hope Awaits – $1,700

Sponsor a room for one month, including associated fees such as food, water, heat etc.
Special Olympics – $5092
Purchase new equipment to accommodate athletes ranging from 5-21 years old.
Rotary’s Camp Tillicum – $5,000
Will be put towards the Rotary Club of North Bay’s Camp Tillicum Renewal.
North Bay Granite Club – $3,684
Purchase brooms and crutches for the Junior Curling Program.
