The Gateway Hub has received some financial support.

It comes in the form of over $1,100 from the Criminal Justice Honour Society at Nipissing University.

The Gateway Hub has representatives from several organizations so elevated risk situations in the community can be assessed and dealt with appropriately.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jim Chirico says the contribution says a lot about the University program.

“I’m very impressed with the leadership that they’ve showed. Their excellence. I think our future thanks to these students is in good hands. They understand the connection between the criminal justice system as well as health and community safety and health because they’re both really interlinked,” he tells BayToday.ca.

Representatives on the Gateway Hub include health professionals, police and social and justice workers.
