Powerful wind has left a trail of damage and power outages across southern and eastern Ontario.

Hydro One says upwards of 88,000 customers lost power yesterday afternoon, with half restored by late last night.

The snow was causing issues locally with cancellations and road closures.

Airport Road was shut down in a couple spots near 22 Wing CFB North Bay because of whiteout conditions and reports of collisions.

Police say the road was back open by 8 o’clock.

Highway 11 from North Bay to New Liskeard was closed for several hours yesterday afternoon, but re-opened around 730 pm.

Provincial Police also report one person was killed in head-on collision on Highway 69, near Key River, yesterday morning.

Another person was taken to hospital.

Upwards of 50 vehicles were involved in a collision on the 400 in Barrie yesterday.

Police say there were no serious injuries.
