Employment up and unemployment down in the area last month

A big drop in unemployment locally, year over year, in March.

Stats Canada says the jobless figure for the North Bay area last month was 5 per cent.

That’s down from 8.3 per cent in March 2017.

The standard error was 1.2 per cent.

Employment, meantime, was at 55 per cent last month.

That’s an increase of 0.8 per cent from March last year.

The figures in the City of North Bay, Bonfield, Callander and East Ferris.
