The OPP says 2017 was one the deadliest year on record on patrolled waterways and roads.

Police say collision fatalities were up from 307 in 2016 to 343 last year.

As well, 91 people died as a result of colliding with transports and 29 lost their lives in snowmobile related incidents.

The provincial police say the increase is likely due to excessive speed, distracted drivers and people not wearing seatbelts.
