North Bay City Council is looking at topping up the Community Improvement Plan by $250,000.

There was recommendation to that effect at this week’s council meeting but was sent to committee to hear from staff.

Community Services Committee chair Mark King says the plan is having a positive impact but needs funds. He says the money is used for a variety of things.

“In most cases it may be to build a business plan and paying for construction of facades is another possible area,” he says.
King says the funds can be used for three parts of the city including the downtown, a brownfield initiative and the airport improvement area.

One councillor wants the plan to include other parts of the city in West Ferris and on Pinewood Park Drive and King says they may look at that.

It’s being proposed that $250,000 from the Hydro reserve fund will be moved to the Community Improvement Plan.

King says they have $100,000 in requests for funds.
