City Council has removed any restrictions on the land sale involving the Nipissing Serenity Hospice property on John Street.

“They have fulfilled the conditions the city of North Bay had put forward regarding fundraising. We waived that and now it’s up to them to finalize the sale which I’m sure they’ll be delighted to do,”  Councillor George Maroosis says.

The plan late last year was to start construction in the spring.

Maroosis says the land was sold for a nominal fee.

It was announced in November the province was supporting the project with $1.2 million and a request was in for $1.5 million from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

Officials are looking at a 10 bed facility with funding for six initially the goal.
