It’s two down, one to go for Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli’s private members bill on wood construction.

The Forestry Revitalizaton Act, which calls for 14 storey wood constructed buildings in Ontario, has passed second reading at Queen’s Park.

Fedeli says the bill is being supported by members of all parties.

“It now goes to committee hearings. It’s doubtful it’ll pass final reading before the election but we’re sure going to push hard,” he says.

Fedeli says if it doesn’t it will be brought back in the next session because there’s all party support.

There are two projects already at the University of Toronto and George Brown College that could go ahead if this becomes the law.

He says if this becomes law there will be a demand for more wood buildings in Ontario and that will benefit people in his riding.

“This would be perfect for additional sales of wood products in Mattawa,Trout Creek or the one planned in Bonfield,” Fedeli says.
