North Bay’s Ryan Hunter has been drafted by the Toronto Argonauts.

The defending Grey Cup champs chose the Bowling Green offensive lineman 9th overall in the CFL draft Thursday.

Hunter signed with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs last weekend after being bypassed at the NFL draft.

“We’re extremely excited to get Ryan with the ninth overall pick,” said Argos GM Jim Popp. “Sometimes you have to take a chance to get one of the best players in the draft. We hope our calculated risk will pay off and we’ll see Ryan wearing the Double Blue sometime in the near future.”

At six-foot-five, 318-pounds, Hunter was a versatile three-year starter at Bowling Green, seeing action at fullback, centre, tight end, both tackle positions and left guard.

Having also also excelled in the classroom, Hunter earned his criminal justice degree before starting his Masters of Business Administration last spring and wants to attend law school.
