OPP with the North Bay Detachment responded to over 650 calls for service in April.

They released the following stats:
– 66 Motor Vehicle Collisions (incl. one crash that claimed two lives)
– 17 Violent Crime Incidents
– 11 Property Crime Incidents
– 8 Impaired Driving Related Incidents
– 4 Drug Related Occurrences

North Bay OPP also say they’ve stepped up their focus on vehicles not stopping for school buses.

A campaign, or ‘focus patrol’, is currently underway.

Provincial Police locally say they have investigated over 30 incidents of vehicles not stopping for the school bus lights this school year.

More than 18 tickets have been issued.

And if you haven’t removed your studded tires, you’re risking a fine.

North Bay OPP are reminding motorists the deadline for studded tires to be removed was April 30th.

They say drivers could face a fine ranging from 110 to one-thousand dollars.

The Highway Traffic Act allows for the limited use of studded tires in northern Ontario from October 1st to April 30th.
