(assaults)

West Nipissing Police have charged a male with assault and forcible confinement in relation to a possible domestic incident on Monday.

Police say a woman had been forced into a vehicle on King Street in Sturgeon Falls.

The vehicle took off and when it stopped the woman ran away.

Police say the man chased after her and put her back in the vehicle.

The woman was then struck at an altercation at a residence.

Meantime, an assault charge was also laid in another incident.

An argument between a couple escalated and a man punched a woman in the head and pushed her through a screen door.

(gun amnesty)

Police in West Nipissing say 8 firearms were turned in in the community as part of the provincial gun amnesty program last month. Almost 2,200 guns were turned in province wide.

(impaired driiving)

An 88 year old Sturgeon Falls male has been charged with impaired driving. Police say they received a complaint of someone driving erratically and located the suspect vehicle at a private residence.
