The final candidates debate in Nipissing was held last night at the OPSEU offices in North Bay.

Over 40 people were on hand to hear the candidates discuss the issues.

Ken Steinbrunner one of the debate’s organizers say the event was part of their vote better campaign and they had two major goals with the debate.

“In Ontario barely 50 % of the people vote. That’s number 1. We have 155,000 members so get out there and vote. And number 2. Pay attention to what the candidates are saying, what the parties stand for and what they’re going to do for you and your family,” he says.
He says if people were paying attention they would have gotten a good sense from all the candidates on where they stand on the issues.

Natalie Rondeau one of the events moderators says all the questions were from their OPSEU members and concern about privatization was a common theme.

“With regards to our health care, our education system, our roads. We’re seeing privatization come up in various forms and the protection of our services and jobs in the north,” Rondeau says.
