The southbound Polar Bear Express passenger train derailed Wednesday night near Moosonee.

Ontario Northland says there were 80 passengers and crew on board when the derailment occurred.

The company says an emergency response plan was initiated.

No serious injuries have been reported.

ONTC says the passengers were safely transported to Moosonee or Cochrane.

Work crews have begun the re-railing of the cars and the repair of infrastructure.

And train service will resume on Monday.
