North Bay, Ontario (June 1, 2018) – Drivers parking in the downtown core of the City of North Bay will no longer have to stand in the cold or dig for coins to pay for parking in City owned parking lots and metered on street parking spaces as the City of North Bay launches a new mobile application. The Passport mobile parking app enables drivers to conveniently pay for their parking at any of the nearly 850 on-street and off-street parking spaces across the city.  The app is powered by the global leader of mobile payments for parking and transit, Passport, serving cities and universities across North America.

In addition to paying for parking, users can:

  • Monitor their parking sessions
  • Extend their sessions remotely
  • View payment history
  • Receive email receipts

The City of North Bay worked in conjunction with DOWNTOWN NORTH BAY (Downtown Improvement Area) to bring this innovative technology to drivers in the area.  Enabling a technology-driven solution for parking is expected to help reduce congestion and increase visitors to the area, which will drive development to local businesses.  “Downtown North Bay is excited to partner with this initiative that makes the convenience of doing business in the heart of our city much easier for our citizens” states Barry Klus, Economic Development Chair DIA.

“The Passport Canada app enables a seamless experience for drivers to pay for and add time to their parking from the convenience of their phones,” says DIA Chair Bob Alger.

“We continue to make Downtown North Bay a destination for entrepreneurs to open up their businesses” adds Jeff Serran, Executive Director DIA.

“We are excited to offer residents and visitors a simple option to pay for parking on-the-go. The Passport Canada app provides a seamless parking experience and even enables local businesses and merchants to validate parking for their customers” adds Chair of Community Services Mark King.

“Through our partnership with the City of North Bay, we are thrilled to bring Passport’s mobile technology to the City and to be part of the City’s forward-thinking initiatives,” said Alexandra Wells, northeast sales at Passport.

The Passport app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. The app is available where users see Passport signage. Users can also manage their parking at ppprkca.com.
