It’s called the North Bay Positive Spaces Project and officials have launched the first phase of the research initiative.

Coordinater Candace Ghent says an anonymous online LGBTQ2S+ Community Survey has been set up to gather experiences.

“What is people’s experience of being an LGBTQ2S+ person in North Bay, as well as what is their experience of trying to access services in North Bay, or what other services that we don’t have here, that are needed by that community,” Ghent says.

Local Immigration Partnership coordinator Meg Ramore says the North Bay Postive Spaces Project is for the LGBTQ2S+ community, by members of the LGBTQ2S+ community.

They’re looking to provide recommendations to service providers too.

“It’s giving some tools and resources to say ‘hey, this has been a list of experiences of some folks in North Bay, here’s some resources or recommendations of how to make it better, because they are your clientele, they are people living here, moving here, born here and growing up here’,” Ramore says.

Officials say the research project looks to give LGBTQ2S+ people a say in shaping the services that matter to them and to share their stories.
