The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is asking for public assistance in identifying those responsible for starting a forest fire in the North Bay district.

The fire was .1 hectare in size and was discovered on private property across from Peterson Lake.

Officials say the fire originated at a small camping site and the area can be accessed by foot or an ATV from a road near Cobalt.

The cause has been identified as not properly extinguishing a camp fire.

Area fire departments put out the blaze.

Anyone with information is asked to call the ministry tip line at 1-877-847-7667 or crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
